NITIE Alumni Meet - Sansmaran 2014

'The pain of parting is nothing compared to the joy of meeting again'. These words came to lifein Sansmaran 2014 – The Annual Alumni meet of National Institute of Industrial Engineering, Mumbai better known as NITIE. NITIE completed 50 remarkable years of its journey of providing industrial excellence in 2013 and the event marked a continuance of the celebrations. “Sansmaran”- literally meaning reminiscence is the vantage point for the alumni to relive memories of their enriching days at NITIE and to reconnect with their alma mater.

Sansmaran, organized on 15th November 2014 kicked off with a visit to the beautiful NITIE campus for the alumni in the morning. As much as it was a walk down the memory lane, the visit made them appreciate the new developments and infrastructure of the campus. This was followed by an Annual General Meeting of the alumni with the members of the NITIE Alumni Association and the Alumni Committee.

In the afternoon a CEO conclave was organized on the topic “Digitization – The Big Explosion” at Hotel Ramada Convention Center, Mumbai. The conclave witnessed talks by eminent speakers such as Dr Mrs Uma Ganesh, CEO – Global Talent Track; Ms. Harini Calamur, Head Digital Content at Zee Media Corporation; Mr. Ramesh Mirakhur, Managing Partner India, Verto and Associates; Dr Ganesh Natarajan, Former Chairman, NASSCOM and CEO of Zensar Technologies; Prof. A K Pundir, Dean Student Affairs and Placement, NITIE and Honorary Secretary of NITIE Alumni Association and was adeptly moderated by Mr Dev Bhattacharya, Chairman, NAA, Group Executive President, Corporate Strategy and Business Head, Aditya Birla Group. The expert insights of the revered panel brought about new dimensions of thinking to a booming subject of current times.

After the CEO conclave, a Felicitation ceremony was held in the evening which began with the announcement of ‘The Distinguished Alumnus Awards’. This year the award has been conferred upon Mr. Ananthram M. Kini – PGDIE 8 Batch, VP(Operations) at Johnson and Johnson ; Mr C. J. Karira – PGDIE 8 Batch, MD of Javick Impex (P) Ltd and Prof Ashok K. Pundir – PGDIE 10 Batch, Professor and Dean, Student Affairs and Placement, NITIE for exceptional contributions in their areas of work. Following this, PGDIE-2 and PGDIE-19 batch were felicitated on completion of 40 and 25 years respectively, of graduation from NITIE. Sansmaran 2014 also paid tribute to PGDIE-32, PGDIM-9,PGDISEM-2,Fellow(2004) and MDP(2004) batches for successful completion of 10 years.

An interactive networking session was organized wherein the alumni shared their experiences with the current students of NITIE. The 5th edition of NITIE’s annual alumni magazine “AlumNiti’ was also unveiled by the dignitaries on this grand occasion.

The event finally concluded with a rib-tickling session by the eminent ‘Hasya Kavi’, Padma Shri, Shri Ashok Chakradhar Ji. His captivating performance filled the room with laughter and lightened the emotional hearts of the alumni brimming with memories.

Sansmaran 2014 was attended by almost 250 NITIE alumni from across the world. It was dubbed a grand success as it achieved its purpose of bringing nostalgia to the hearts and smile to the faces of the ‘alums’ – as the alumni are fondly called here in NITIE!
