ICFAI Law School a constituent of ICFAI University, Hyderabad, has organized a Three-day ICON (ICFAI Conference of Nations-2017) from 6th January 2017 to 8th January 2017 at ICFAI University Campus, Dontanpally.
The Chief Guest Mr. Tadepalli Venkata Bhaskar, General Counsel and HOD Law, GVK Group of Companies shared his experiences on the significance of such events in a student's overall development which aims to foster global citizenship. He insisted that for a law student it is important to possess certain qualities in order to protect the rights of individuals and the ability to fight for the rights if violated. He also elaborated on the importance of skills and arguments for a lawyer to be proficient in their career. He added that knowledge, communication, courtesy, flexibility, integrity, inter-personal skills, positive attitude, team building and work ethics are the skills which alleviates an individual professionally. He further, appreciated the prominent role of ICFAI in encouraging the students and providing them a platform to exhibit their skills.
Initially in his welcome address Prof A V Narasimha Rao. Dean, ICFAI Law School, spoke about the importance of conducting the event and the prominent role played by the students towards ICON. He also highlighted the relevance of adding the Indian Lok Sabha as one of the committees in the ICON thereby making ICON a "Global" event. He emphasized that one can have a better understanding of the international format of MUN only by having a comprehensive knowledge on the Indian set up.
Model United Nations or MUN is an educational simulation and an academic competition where participants can learn about the diplomacy, negations, international relations, and get an insight into the working of the United Nations. ICON-2017 aims to foster global citizenship and address current world issues related to regional conflicts, peace keeping, human rights, economic and social developments, disarmament and nuclear security and the environment.
Other dignitaries present in the event were Prof. Y R Haragopal Reddy and Prof. V Hemalatha Devi, Prof. Madhuri Irene, faculty coordinator of ICON-2017, Secretary General Ms. Shravya Reddy, Student of ILS, students and faculty members of ICFAI University were present.
