Founded in 1964, Mouser Electronics is a distributor of semiconductor and electronic components specializing in rapid introduction of new products and technologies offering electromechanical components, semiconductors, interconnects and more. The company is headquartered at Mansfield, Texas.

Today the world is predominantly online, and while the internet experience has evolved, companies are facing a difficult time providing everything that a customer needs on their website while keeping it a simplified browsing experience. Some of the other things that are shaping many industries are the use of Cloud technologies and the use of big data, providing visibility and helping understand the customer.

The industry has always played a catch up role with regards to the trends shaping day in and day out. Also, the world too is moving at rapid pace and so is the need of an agile technology at its sharp end. The competition within the industry does not become worthy enough if the end user is not reached and serviced at a faster rate. So, the need for effective and easy intuitive business analytic tools is the one application that not any one vendor can provide for most organizations. Though this can be achieved by the confluence of multiple vendors and incorporating the right mix of tools, but the mantle still needs to be shifted in initiating.

Apart from the trends I observe, the challenges too have a fair share, and there are many challenges we face in the ever changing technology landscape. The biggest one is the transition from IT to BT. Building an efficient team that adheres to the core values of the company which demonstrates a disciplined approach is key. Making sure that every member of that team not only works as a passive support but should also positively contribute to the team is important. So, it is not just about changing the leadership team towards business technology, but about having your entire team understand how the effective use of technology can drive the business.

Providing for the Global landscape

Many countries worldwide are seeing good GDP growth, and business leaders need to ensure they have a global strategy to keep growing.

Finding the right people that can fit into the ever changing global business landscape;
These are people who have good experience but also who understand that what has worked historically will not necessarily suffice today.

Watch out for your Competition

They are not only watching you but they are also innovating. Businesses need to be dynamic and flexible to respond quickly to their opponents.

Most engineers love challenges. We need more and more business leaders who can help identify the challenge, and in turn are able to pass it on to a technical think tank. As we identify these challenges, innovation will automatically take place. This means that we want more business leaders who understand how technology works and who will ask if and how technology can solve the problem. Encouraging time and budget spend on R&D or in other words trial and error, Encouraging folks to try something new and letting them know that learning from failures is the only way to come up with new ideas.

Lastly I believe shadow IT brings innovation into the landscape. The business always finds a work around for something if IT cannot provide immediately. If IT communicates well with these business users, you find that their problem becomes our next innovation. (As told to Durgesh Prakash)
