Surgical mask manufacturers like Hospital Equipment Manufacturing and Apothecaries Sundries Manufacturing Company has benefited from the global frenzy surrounding the killer corona virus that has stalked much of South East Asia but left India largely untouched so far. With countries stockpiling masks to prevent and contain outbreaks of the particularly virulent influenza, these companies have been hard put to meet the demand for products such as the World Health organization certified surgical masks.

One such company, Hospital Equipment Manufacturing Company, exports surgical, medical, laboratory and educational products to over 35 countries around the world. The company sources its products from over 150 manufacturers and suppliers who help the company keep its export delivery commitments.

Sudhir Narang, one of the promoters of Apothecaries Sundries Manufacturing Company says, “Our export of masks to China, Hong Kong and Singapore has increased manifold. New orders are pouring in every day. We never anticipated this kind of demand for masks made here.” A recent news report quoted industry sources as saying that medical equipment makers in New Delhi alone have exported facemasks worth over $5 million in the last one month.

With the corona virus showing no signs of abating and still no cure in sight, companies like these are looking at increased business for some time.
