A month ahead of Narendra Modi's maiden visit to the US, the Indian American Community Foundation (IACF), a non-profit organization, launched a website to give a community reception for Prime Minister Narendra Modi in September. This reception comes in the wake of the summit level meeting which is to be held in September end between US President Barack Obama and Narendra Modi.

Modi, who was denied US visa after the 2002 Gujarat riots which claimed many lives, is now going to the US to discuss the India-US ties for the coming years.

To ensure success of the program, which will be the largest ever public address by an Indian Prime Minister overseas, IACF has launched a website pmvisit.org. The website invites suggestions on how to achieve objectives of the event. Interested Community organizations have been requested to mobilize people to attend the function, news analysis website Niti Central reported. The main aim is to take suggestions from the people about the event and seek funds by getting involved in the various aspects of logistics.

Modi will address a gathering of around 20000 people on September 28, 2014. Members of the Indian Diaspora and guests will be present at the reception being organized at the Madison Square Garden in Manhattan. More than 300 Indo-American organizations from across the U.S. have come together to give Narendra Modi a historic public reception.

Apart from the meeting, Narendra Modi was also invited to address the US congress which got canceled on August 14, 2014. The US ambassador Kathleen Stephens said that with the new government coming to India, she was hopeful that bilateral relations between India and U.S. would be taken to a new level. "US can effectively help in India in re-energizing its economy which will help in better job and economic growth," says Stephens.
