Tuesday, July 4, 2006
Infosys co-founder, chairman and chief mentor, Narayana Murthy will step down from chairmanship in August but will continue to play the role of a non-executive chairman in the IT bellwether.

With a goal to increase the number of customers, employees and investors, and get bigger projects, Murthy expressed his wish to see Infosys figure in the list of top 5 to 10 companies in every market in the world in categories lik e best employer, best managed company etc.

Reminiscing the early days of Infosys and the turbulent time in the early 90’s when the company was almost on the verge of shutting down, Murthy recollects how the economic reforms in 1991 gave the company a fillip to zoom ahead.

A sanguine Infoscion and a maestro in his own style, Murthy always advocated aspiration to fuel progress. With Infosys turning 25 this year, his advocacy has witnessed run of the mill people emerge as extraordinary achievers.
