Network General of U.S. to ramp up India operations

U.S. based IT management solutions firm Network General Corporation (NGC), is set to expand its India operations to develop new versions of its product range, catering to the Asia-Pacific region and the domestic market.
The Bangalore center is the company’s largest product development center outside the U.S., and accounts for 60 percent of the development resources worldwide. “We are investing $10 million over the next 18 months to expand the R&D facilities, and roll out a suite of new products and solutions,” said Network General CEO Bill Gibson.

The company has decided to ramp up its engineering team in India to 200 in the next 12-18 months. Currently, NGC’s 100-strong team of Indian engineers in the city has developed some of its flagship products like Sniffer Administrator, Visualizer and Portable.


Renesas to Establish Dedicated ODC in India

Renesas Technology Corp. has established a dedicated offshore development center at KPIT Cummins to strengthen its development and design capabilities in India. The company will increase the number of engineers in this facility to more than 500 in three years.
Currently, approximately 100 KPIT Cummins engineers are engaged in design work for the company. “With this ODC, we will be improving the design setting where engineers work,” said Atsushi Asari, board director, Renesas.

The partnership enables KPIT to create a strong synergy between Auto and VLSI domain. “We look forward to work with Renesas in Embedded Software, Cross Development Tools, SoCs Design & verification,” said Kishor Patil, CEO and Managing Director, KPIT Cummins.


Kanbay opens new campus in Hyderabad

U.S.-based IT solutions provider Kanbay International Inc opened its new software development campus in Hyderabad. Chairman and CEO Raymond Spencer said that the firm would increase the headcount in the city to 5500 from the current 1400 in a year.

The 15-acre campus in the IT Park will be completed next year, and will accommodate 4500 professionals. The company, which focuses on financial services, presently has 5500 employees at its software development centers in Hyderabad, Pune and Chennai.It has plans to increase the capacity to 15000 by 2010.
Kanbay India managing director Cyprian D’Souza said the company would also look at other potential locations for expanding its operations in India.


Apache expands India operations

The Bangalore unit of EDA firm Apache Design Solutions will increase its headcount by over 400 percent this year. This will be done with an aim to provide round-the-clock support to its customers worldwide.

Andrew Yang, CEO, Apache Design Solutions, said, “India has been recognized as a region with engineering expertise in the high-technology semiconductor and IC markets.”
Apache’s expansion will help it to keep up with its increased customer demand for the company’s full-chip dynamic power closure solutions for SoC designs at 130 nm processes and below.


ReLQ opens new facility in Bangalore

Software testing company RelQ Software inaugurated a 40,000sq.ft facility in Bangalore to accommodate 400 testing engineers. The company plans to increase its workforce to 1,000 by the year-end from the present 750.

“We are witnessing tremendous growth in terms of revenue, adding new customers, including 10 new global companies. This new center will be an integral part of our growth plans,” said Dr. Prakash Mutalik, President, RelQ while inaugurating the center.
