Most Indians in the US live a closed, myopic existence, insulated from mainstream America, with sporadic participation in their larger communitys’ social, cultural and political activities. Maybe, as first generation immigrants, we often draw narrow boundaries around ourselves that we are too scared to cross.
As a first generation Indian myself, I feel we need to:
l forge bonds within our own community so we are stronger;
l forge bonds within other communities in the US so we are perceived as sharing;
l lay the foundation for our future generations, so that they can take the community to new heights of accomplishments.
