Aveksa Enabling Enterprises to achieve Golden Goals in the IAM Space

For the longest time, organizations struggled to employ an effective Identity and Access Management (IAM) platform. Access decisions were often relegated to IT security who found it difficult to properly define appropriate permissions for business-defined roles. As a result, role definitions were typically convoluted, inefficient and increased vulnerability to security threats. In layman’s terms, IT Security simply lacked the nuanced knowledge of business roles.

However, as stricter compliance regulations forced businesses to assess the risk of potential data breaches, and relationships with customers, partners and suppliers grew increasingly complex, businesses sought new IAM solutions that emphasized rapid deployment and integration. With new types of data, mobile users, applications across infrastructures (on-premise and cloud), Information Security became anything but simple.

Enter Aveksa Inc. , a company that recognized the need for a purpose-built, business-driven IAM platform that stood to shift access decisions away from the stressed IT department and towards the (logical) line of business. After all, it is these business thinkers who understand exactly the level of appropriate access for a given role. Fortunately for the businesses in need of an IAM overhaul, Aveksa's IAM platform entered the marketplace at precisely the right time.

According to Gartner, a leading information technology research and advisory company, the IAM market is currently experiencing an unprecedented, rapid growth. Gartner stated that IAM platform's estimated growth in 2012 will exceed 2011 sales by 35 to 40 percent. Beyond those bold predictions, they continued to explain their belief that this is only the beginning of an explosion in IAM growth, with a peak period of functionality expected in the next four to six years.

Founded in 2004, Aveksa continues to capitalize on Gartner's optimistic market predictions, offering a technology set to differentiate itself from the competition on the growing marketplace. "Aveksa's primary advantage is their purpose-built platform which allows organizations the ability to automate the complete identity lifecycle from a business-driven perspective. This platform is vital to line-of-business leaders in providing an efficient and effective way for organizations to deliver, control, and manage their business," explains Vick Viren Vaishnavi, President and CEO of Aveksa Inc. In essence, Aveksa uniquely combines the ability for the line of business to seize accountability and responsibility for making access decisions within the controls, processes, and policies defined by Information Security.

Because Aveksa's solution is independent of any single fulfillment engine or provisioning system, organizations can uniformly manage across all systems. Aveksa's unique Access Fulfillment Express (AFX) provides a compelling alternative to traditional services intensive IDM systems with a lower TCO through its design premise of "configuration versus customization". With AFX, enterprises can integrate with their existing provisioning systems; leveraging the investments they have made into them while investing in a more cost effective solution.

Once installed, Aveksa helps organizations achieve their new IAM goals by, among others, enabling easy access to thousands of web applications, giving InfoSec visibility and control over who has access to what, providing a solid foundation to scale across the enterprise, automating identity and access governance, lifecycle and provisioning activities and enabling better security through improved threat detection and evaluation. All of these technologies serve to enable the business to become more self-reliant by shifting ownership and accountability to it and away from IT.

But technology, as they say, is only half of the equation. Without an effective and original business strategy, Aveksa could not have demonstrated the rapid business growth in recent years. "The driving factor behind Aveksa’s rapid growth (this quarter marking the company’s most successful one to date) can be attributed to our unique go-to-market (GTM) methodology and proof-of-concept (POC) process," says Vaishnavi.

From the beginning, Aveksa differentiated itself by developing a highly specialized GTM process that allows them to be prescriptive in their approach to customers' challenges. Aveksa's purpose-built platform is designed to account for the specific challenges of the individual business, rather than force a one-size-fits-all solution. In turn, this solution is demonstrated by Aveksa's rigorous POC process, as they are able to demonstrate in-house to customers the benefits of their solution and ensure it functions efficiently and successfully. Every quarter Aveksa has posted a near 100 percent POC win rate against competing solutions, demonstrating the tremendous business value they provide enterprises.

Vaishnavi is not just waving pom-poms for the business he heads, his facts are well substantiated. Both Gartner and Forrester—both leading technology analysts—have ranked Aveksa as a leader in the IAM space two years in row and acknowledged their unique GTM process model. Customers have continued to recognize what makes Aveksa's solution so effective, and as a result, the company continues to expand.

As the IAM market continues to grow, —and it certainly will according to industry-leading analysts like Gartner and Forrester, Aveksa has several plans for future technologies and growth. Aveksa has recognized the increasing prevalence of cloud-based applications that allow employees and partners to access information away from the office (primarily through the use of mobile devices). Aveksa will give organizations the ability to manage their applications whether through the cloud or an on-premise solution. Aveksa will expand the capabilities of our Data Access Governance (DAG) solution so that organizations can efficiently secure their unstructured data assets thereby providing customers with a single management platform across applications and data.

As technology and business continue to evolve, Aveksa will continue to be on the forefront of purpose-built Identity and Access Management platforms.
