A day of perfect synchrony dawned on siliconindia on May 03, 2005. A typical Californian weather with that slight tinge of chill in the breeze, an upbeat set of companies, an elegant ballroom, and over 400 professionals came together with one mission— to recruit and be recruited for the U.S. and India. Yes, the siliconindia Career Factory May 2005 was a complete event.

Reflecting the market upswing, the event attracted people not only from California but from the neighboring states as well. Over 400 professionals seeking positions in the U.S. and India raided the silent shores of the Mariott California Ballroom. The event was dubbed a grand success!

“The reception indicates the opening up of the market, the demand for tech professionals in the U.S. and in India, we try to meet the demand by bringing recruiters and candidates together,” Harvi Sachar, Editor-in-Chief, siliconindia said.

The event organized by siliconindia enabled recruiters to meet talent, a perfect platform for those fresh out of college, seeking a change in the career or for those seeking a new challenge. Over 25 companies participated in the event; each reviewed over 150 resumes in their search of that perfect fit.

“It made the event successful for us. We reviewed 169 resumes, already made one offer and scheduled over 20 interviews,” says Rick Henderson, IRT program manager, Intel.

siliconindia, over the years has grown into the seed behind many a career attracting the best companies and candidates nationwide. “The quality of candidates was surprisingly good, with higher level of experience then originally expected, some candidates had 20
plus years,” he said.

Pradeep Anthony, resource manager, Larsen & Toubro Infotech says, “I was surprised that many consultants after having spent sufficient times in the U.S. are looking for jobs in India to take up Middle/Senior Management positions. I was surprised by the overwhelming interest in India expressed by the candidates.”
With such overwhelming response, many candidates have been short listed for interviews. “One candidate has been made an offer (pending acceptance) I believe there are at least 20 or so interviews going on right now, with more to come,” assures Henderson.

The evening also featured a panel discussion on relocation to India. A panel of eminent immigration lawyers and tax experts from the Chugh firm explained the practical details of relocating to India. They answered queries from the audience ranging from tax in the U.S. while living in India to current regulations with permanent residency.
