Leading the Way Date:   Monday , November 02, 2009 Having been able to relate closely to the business needs of customer organizations and helping them to leverage information technology to their advantage, Som Sarma is recently appointed as the Global IT Services Head in 3i Infotech. He will be responsible for expanding the global services business portfolio of the company. Prior to joining the 3i Infotech, Sarma has served in Satyam (now Mahindra Satyam) as Senior Vice President and Head (UK and Ireland). He provided significant impetus to Satyam’s foray into multiple industry verticals. Throughout his career expedition, Sarma has been a confident andamiable person. He believes in perseverance and following through. Heasserts, “Never take a no for an answer – facilitate all sides for aligned success.” He also opines that a leader should stay close to the customers and help them realize their potential and aspirations. Holding on to his convictions, Sarma advises the young techies to have a sense of creativity that cannot be monopolized and says, “They should commit to the work, and team play is very necessary to reach greater heights.” Apart from work, Sarma loves to play golf with friends and also occasionally goes trekking in nature trails with his kids. He holds an MBA from London Business School and a master’s degree in international business from Indian Institute of Foreign Trade, New Delhi.
