IBM expands its India Research Lab
Addressing growing opportunities for service innovation in the region, IBM’s India Research Laboratory (IBM IRL), announced the expansion of its Bangalore facility. The company said that the Bangalore center of IRL has moved to a larger facility at its Embassy Golf Links Campus.
According to Daniel Dias, Director, IBM India Research Laboratory aims to connect its researchers with the most difficult, real world problems facing the services industry in the areas of business intelligence, systems management, and optimization.
Services, which account for a large portion of IBM’s business has increased its importance. This led IBM IRL to increase its focus on developing techniques and methods in service science and their applications to the service delivery business of IBM India.
Firefox 2 security update is coming
Mozilla Firefox 2 is getting a security makeover, by a performance and stability update to the free browser. The new update to the browser fixes 300 memory leaks, and is based on the Gecko 1.8 web rendering engine. The most interesting changes to Firefox 3 are the numerous small modifications and a big one that make Web browsing faster and easier. One of the key differentiators is a new tool that makes easier to find pages that the user has visited before. Firefox Places combines the bookmarks and history into a single package.
