If you ever thought about some connection between the TV and the Internet, it is to view TV content in the Internet, In India, however, the notion has reversed and now, you can access the Internet from your TV. Check your mail at Gmail, watch YouTube videos, and even connect with friends on Facebook at the regular cable subscription charge of Rs. 150-200 a month.

Through its patented technology, the Noida based set-top-boxes manufacturer Logic Eastern ties up with multiple system operators (MSOs) and local cable operators, ensuring a two-way flow of Internet data. The data injected into the MSOs are transferred to consumers and are returned via the use of existing cell phone networks. “Your cell phone will function as the remote control, though you wouldn’t be able to respond back. To make the two-way communication possible in the TV, we are developing a wireless keyboard,” says Vineet Wadhwa, Chief Technology Officer and Promoter of Logic Eastern. Added to the innovation, the cost is all inclusive, as both the television and the Internet come at same cable connection costs on the same line, with the installation of the set-top-box designed for it.

Analysts are of the view that the new shift in the access of Internet will be a positive revolution for companies. However there are criticisms too, as some analysts look at it as a backward technology move, considering the current trend of TV shifting to the Internet. Yet considering the backward areas of the country where the Internet penetration is yet to gain momentum, this new system will bring a significant shift. Who knows, in some days we will be reverently surfing all the sites through our own TV.
