Emerging telecommunication corporation, Swipe Telecom, raises Rs.30 crore in venture capital funding from Kalaari Capital. The company plans to use the fund to spread out its reach in Indian market by expanding sales and investing in the development of new range of products. It also targets a 12 percent market share in tablet PC industry in India. Swipe had previously raised Rs.60 crore from Pune-based Mantra Ventures in July 2012.

Swipe’s focus in tablet industry has made an impression on Kalaari capital, which is stirred with the Swipe team’s talent to match the cutting-edge technology to unique local consumer requirements that will enable rapid proliferation and use of mobility products and services in India. Since mobility is a core investment theme for Kalaari, they strongly believe Swipe is a valuable addition to their mobility portfolio.

The startup was founded in 2012 by Shripal Gandhi and Aman Gupta with the vision to be a leading smart device manufacturer in India, by availing cutting-edge technology highly customized for Indian customers at attractive costs. They believe Kalaari’s investment is another milestone in their journey, to achieve this vision. Swipe has partnered with music channel MTV to sell co-branded tablets.

Headquartered in California and with office in Pune, it initially provided Android based Fablets & Tablet PCs. To date, they have launched 23 devices including 3D tablet, tablet customized for kids and also made accessories like HDMI cable, Premium 3D glasses, head phones with 3D surround sound to go with their products. They have eleven patents in nanotechnology and also offer solutions extending to verticals including education, FMCC, healthcare, IT, hospitality, pharmaceuticals, institutions and manufacturing.

Swipe intends to customize their tablets for enterprises and plans to make pre-loaded tablets for education institutes and banks. They also plan to launch new tablets with Microsoft Windows platform, additional to their current products on Google's Android platform.
