A veteran in the semiconductor industry, Biswadip Mitra has been elected as the President and Managing Director of Texas Instruments (TI) India and will lead all of TI’s research and development, sales, and marketing activities in India. Fondly known as ‘Bobby’, he has been instrumental in expanding TI’s presence in India since its inception. He has led the company’s research and development activities with innovative world-class products for its global customers, as well as leading its focus on India as a semiconductor growth market for TI. Bobby has also been a key driving force for the creation of the Indian semiconductor and electronics industry ecosystem, and establishing TI’s partnership with over 700 local universities.

He joined TI 23 years ago and during this period he also served as Director of America’s wireless communication product development activities at Texas Instruments, Dallas and led TI’s development of ultra-low power DSP core. Having been at the helm of leadership for such a long time, he has varied thoughts about what leadership means. “I believe that leadership is all about getting to a state of resonance — the resonance that gets created when people’s aspirations, product requirements, and the business demands meet. When such an alliance occurs, the performance of the employee attains its zenith — inevitably leading to satisfied customers and business success,” Bobby says. He believes in the 3 Cs – Communication, Consistency, and Courage, and imparts the same to those who work with him.

Bobby holds a B.Tech. degree in Electronics and Electrical Communication Engineering and a Ph.D. in Computer Science and Engineering from IIT Kharagpur. He also holds an Executive MBA degree from The University of Texas at Austin.
