A few years back, if you were an Indian in the SFO airport, people easily assumed that you were related to the IT export business. That is how the accepted norm was earlier. Yes, Indians have proved themselves that they are good in outsourcing services business. Today what I have observed from the conversations with Fortune 500 CXOs is that the "Services" tag which we got about a decade back is fading away and Indians are now the toast of Silicon Valley for building several path breaking product companies in ground breaking technologies, proving themselves to become the best in the product business.
For instance, we have witnessed that in the year 2013 alone Indian entrepreneurs of product companies were successful in raising over $300 million from the venture capitalist. This year, particularly the Indian entrepreneurs from Big Data, Mobile and Cloud Computing companies were creating a lot more buzz and have wooed the investor's interest. This trend is a testimony for the Indian entrepreneurs' ideas getting lot more acceptance compared to previous years and the "Services" tag fading away from the investors' mindset.
Siliconindia has always tried to highlight and celebrate the power of entrepreneurship among the Indians in the U.S. the 16th si100 listing
of top 100 companies founded and managed by Indians in the U.S. is our endeavor in this regard. This year's si100 listing also represents the continuing rise and glory of the Indian entrepreneur in the hightech space and identifies companies impacting the marketplace. The companies in this year's list display the characteristics of long-term visibility, sustained growth, business focus, profitability and customer and employee value-creation.
We salute each and every one of these entrepreneurs for their leadership, and particularly for their unrelenting dedication in building their companies. Every entrepreneur on this list demonstrates the utmost passion for building lasting enterprises and exudes confidence that they will succeed in tackling the current economic conditions.
We interviewed more than 600 companies for this issue and we were thrilled to witness the companies especially those in Big Data and Cloud Computing companies. They all showed the utmost passion for building lasting enterprises and exuded confidence that they will succeed in tackling the current economic conditions. We congratulate the 100 finalists for achieving this vote of respect from industry leaders and wish each and every one of them a great future.
Please do let us know what you think.
