The Smart Techie was renamed Siliconindia India Edition starting Feb 2012 to continue the nearly two decade track record of excellence of our US edition.
Huawei Technologies is all set to launch PhotoVision SoftBank HW001, its first 3G network-compatible digital photo frame. Its built-in 3G communication function enables users to directly receive and auto-play pictures from handsets and PCs, as well as images received via MMS.
Equipped with a 7-inch WVGA (800 x 480 pixels) liquid-crystal display, HW001 can be connected to a 3G network via a SIM card. Without the need for any initial configuration, users can use the auto-play function to view their pictures without having to press a single button. Besides a SD card, the HW001 also has a 384MB built-in memory that can store up to 1,280 pictures. Though the company has not confirmed any price, the digital photo frame will be available in black and white, with a Hello Kitty version.
