Smartphones Just Keep Getting Smarter

Where is the NFC headed?

In the future NFC technology can be used for money transactions. But the technicalities in working that out will be a little tedious. As of now, according to Nick Holland, an analyst with Yankee Group, thinks that for non cash apps, NFC has a bright future and be developed to great extents.

This NFC technology can be a savior to Wi-Fi enabled café and restaurants.  All the café needs to do is allows their customers to tap their phones against a tag and activate their Wi-Fi, instead of the tedious process of entering passwords.

NFC can to a certain extent be an answer to QR Codes. QR codes are two-dimensional bar codes that the user needs to photograph and with the help of particular software they can be decoded to earn the coupon. But QR codes are described as ‘digital vomit’ because of the ugly nature of bar codes.

The NFC Technology is a t catching up fast and the market for the manufacturing of the chips will just get bigger and bigger from here.  Right now Semiconductors N V, a Dutch company, and Inside Secure, a French company is the big fishes in manufacturing of NFC Chips. But a lot more companies are looking to expand into this field as the market for NFC chips seems promising.
