iPhone 5 to have Thin, Light 'in-cell' Touchscreen

Bangalore: Apple’s upcoming new iPhone has generated lots of rumors; there are lots of speculations and expectation from this new product in the minds of Apple fans.  A new buzz from Taiwan states that the company is going to implement a new touchscreen technology named ‘in-cell’ in the new iPhone which is thinner and lighter, and will make the smartphone much slimmer than its predecessors.

This new ‘in-cell’ touchscreen will have sensors meshed into the display itself which makes the complete assembly slimmer. The glass layer that holds the sensors in the current smartphone will be omitted and therefore the new iPhone will be much lighter.

Apple is going to adapt ‘in-cell’ touchscreen technology in their new phones with the help of Sharp and Toshiba, reports DigiTimes. Company’s present panel supplier TPK Holdings is working on a new ‘Touch on Lens’ technology.

There are rumors that the body of the new device will be made of liquid metal making it light like plastic and strong like aluminum. It is also said that the new iPhone will have a larger display and will come with 4G LTE support.
