Xiaomi Wants To Make Android One Smartphones?

BANGALORE: After the launch of the Android one smartphones in India, the Chinese company Xiaomi is apparently very indulgent in joining the Google’ initiative of the Android one programme, as reported by the BGR.

Supposedly, the Vice president of International for the Xiaomi, Hugo Barra told the India Today that he is a big fan of the Android one and the company looks forward to be a part of the Google’s initiative by using its phones.

“We will like to use Android One as we are a huge fan of the product. I think it is just a matter of time,” Barra said. But, He also said that the company for now “decided to not to create another line of product because we want to focus on the existing one.”

Barra also revealed how the Android One project had started when he was at Google, and therefore he is towards it. “It has been cooking at Google for a long time. I am a huge fan. I think it is a very smart move by Google. And it is a great product,” Barra said.

However, Google launched the Android One in India on September 15. Micromax, Karbonn and Spice were its partners for the program and they launched the first three smartphones called the Canvas A1, Sparkle V and the Dream Uno respectively. All the three smartphones are similar in terms of specifications and software, but are priced differently. Adding more to that, Google also revealed new hardware partners like HTC, Lava, Xolo, Intex, Asus, Alcatel Onetouch, Lenovo, and Panasonic will jointly bring out their handsets soon.
