Xiaomi All Set To Roll Out 'Redmi 1s'

BANGALORE: Chinese phone maker Xiaomi, which forayed into India just some months back, is all set to roll out another  handset 'Redmi 1s' after its successful launch of Mi3 on India’s e-commerce site Flipkart, reports Rediff.

This second smartphone from Xiaomiis  priced at 5,999 will be available on Flipkart on September 2 from 2 pm onwards.

Xiaomi Global Vice President Hugo Barra said that the handset will be available only to those who have registered by midnight on September 1 and they will be eligible to buy the phone from September 2 onwards.

"The Redmi 1S is the first phone of the Redmi family made available in India. It offers the best quality and user experience and at a very affordable price point. The device offers a great 720p HD screen, an 8MP camera that delivers superfine quality images, great battery life and a range of software features," he added.

The Redmi 1S is a dual SIM phone that uses standard SIM and has a 4.7 inch IPS display with 1280×720 pixel resolution. It is powered by a quad-core 1.6 GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 mobile chipset. The phone has 1GB RAM and internal storage of 8 GB. The part that will make multimedia enthusiast jump with joy is the fact that Redmi 1S gives you an expandable storage option up to 64 GB. It runs on a version of MIUI based on Android 4.3 Jellybean.

Redmi 1S has a feature called the ‘Light Mode’ which gives the UI a simple look. The icons are bigger in this view and the phone almost turns into a feature mode. The device gets its juice from a 2000 mAh battery which is perfect for the price.

Barra further said, “We were able to reduce the price to 5999 by eliminating the marketing budget.”
