Bangalore: Samsung today announced the launch of the Samsung Wave Y; its latest Smartphone based on the powerful bada 2.0 operating System. The feature packed, stylish Wave Y (S5380) targeted at Gen Y allows them to easily remain connected, be socially active as well as personalize the device as per their requirements.

The bada 2.0 platform offers a state-of-the-art OS with better features and more ease of use, while the powerful 832MHz processor enables a fast response time and smooth multitasking. The ergonomic rounded design offers a comfortable grip with the metallic hairline pattern adding sophistication. The large and wide 3.2" HGVA screen offers a crystal clear view. The sleek device with a clean cut design measures12.3 mm slim.

CHATON (Samsung Messenger) available on Wave Y introduces a new way to keep in touch. CHATON connects everyone in a single easy chatting service as it supports multiple platforms including Android, iPhone OS, bada OS, Blackberry OS etc. It also supports group chats and multimedia transfers. Further, instead of connecting via user IDs, users can find friends and connect using phone numbers. With the Social Hub 2.0, users get access to integrated contacts and calendar, integrated messages, emails and news feeds and as well as status updates for popular SNS applications.

The TouchWiz for bada provides a superior smart phone experience. Live Panel offers an interactive home screen that can be customized to display preferred information such as weather, stocks, news updates etc. The Innovative Lock Screen offers direct links to missed events. The Folder Management function allows users to create and manage folders easily with the multi-touch interface. The 3D folder viewing offers an intuitive way to keep all files organized properly.

The Wi-Fi 802.11n & BT 3.0 provides the fastest and compatible Wi-Fi connection for internet access. The Wi-Fi Direct offers direct pairing and data sharing without any AP device and allows for connections to various devices.BT 3.0 allows users to transfer data with other BT devices at the rate of 24Mbps, that is 8 times faster than normal Bluetooth and 50 times faster than NFC.
