Ultrabook Turns into Tablet: Lenovo IdeaPad YOGA


Bangalore: Lenovo has announced its latest touchscreen ultrabook-cum-tablet computer at CES 2012. The new IdeaPad YOGA is a thin & stylish ultrabook and features a touchscreen with 360 degree flip screen which make it to be used as tablet too. Along with this convertible ultrabook, Lenovo has also announced two other devices, IdeaCenter A720, an all-in-one desktop computer and IdeaTab K2 tablet.

The IdeaPad YOGA sports a 13.3 inch touchscreen with 1,600x900-pixel resolution, 8 GB of RAM, weighs just 1.4 kilogram and has a thickness 0.67 inch and has up to 256 GB of SSD storage. It is powered by Intel's Oak Trail processors and runs Microsoft's touch-friendly Windows 8 operating system.

This stylish ultrabook also has a leather palm rest to give a good grip to hold when it is converted to a tablet. While using it as a tablet, the Windows 8 desktop OS switches in to the Metro user interface for touchscreen access. As it is running on Windows 8 OS, it is expected that this convertible ultrabook will not be available soon.

The Lenovo IdeaCenter A720 is a 27 inch all-in-one touchscreen desktop measuring less than an inch (just 0.94 inch) with a sleek metal exterior design and frameless display. It is powered by Intel Core Processor, NVIDIA GeForce graphic card, 64 GB SSD storage and has up to 1 TB HDD.

IdeaCenter A72 also features Dolby home theater V4 audio, high sense webcam and a suite of touch-optimized applications and games. This device is stylish, powerful and perfect for the modern home entertainment center. The IdeaCentre A720 will be available in the first half of 2012 with an estimated starting retail price of $1,299 but the company has yet to announce the availability and price details in Indian market.

The Lenovo IdeaTab K2 tablet is the second tablet announced in the CES 2012, the first one was Lenovo IdeaTab S2. The IdeaTab K2 features 10 inch display with IPS (In-plane switching) technology and 1920x1200 pixels of resolution. The tablet is powered by quad-core NVIDIA Tegra 3 SoC processor and runs on Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich operating system. It also has 8 MP rear camera and a customized user interface called Lenovo Mondrian which is also in IdeaTab S2. The availability in India is not yet revealed, the price is expected to be around 35,000.
