UMI Launch 2 GB, Quad Core Smartphone Under 15,000


Bangalore: The Chinese handset vendor UMI has launched its second Smartphone in India. The phone is called as UMI X2 which runs on Android Jelly Bean 4.1, and the company has promised to upgrade it to latest Jellybean 4.2 in April.

The phones surprisingly sports high end features for the cost, which is 14,000. It has a 5” IPS display with HD resolution of 1920x1080 pixels. The display comes with Gorilla Glass 2 coating that protects the screen from scratches.  The device is powered by a 1.2 GHz MTK MT6589 quad-core processor with PowerVR SGX544 GPU, and it houses 2 GB RAM and 32 GB inbuilt memory. The Smartphone also supports a micro SD card of up to 32 GB.

UMI X2 also sports two cameras, the rear one is 13 MP, and front is 2 MP. The phone has dual SIM support and comes with large 2500 mAH battery. It has 3G, WiFi, Bluetooth and GPS connectivity and other set of sensors.

The Smartphone seems to be action packed to take on with the latest Micromax Canvas HD 116, and other phones in the range of this price tag.

Its predecessor UMI X1 was launched in India in first week of February and it cost 9999. The device sported a 4.5 inch HD display (1280x720p), MediaTek MTK6577 chipset based 1 GHz dual core processor coupled with 1 GB RAM and 4 GB of inbuilt memory. It was an Android 4.0 run mobile, with 8 megapixel rear with dual LED flash light and 2 megapixel front camera.
