Top 7-Inch Tablet to Battle iPad Mini


Bangalore:  It hasn’t even been a week since Apple launched its iPad Mini and it is facing tough competition from other 7 inch tablets. In spite of Late Steve Jobs declaring that smaller tablets would be dead on arrival, but Apple went ahead with the launch as it felt that it had to enter the budget tablet market to retain the strong hold in the gadget world.

Only time will tell if iPad Mini will be a success of as Jobs put it; Dead on Arrival. In the mean while let’s have a look at the 7 tablets that are the rivals of the new iPad Mini.

1. Google Nexus 7
Price: 11,000 for the 8 GB Model

Google partnered with electronic manufactures Asus to come out with the Google Nexus 7 tablet. The 7 inch LED-backlit IPS LCD capacitive touch screen comes with a resolution of 1280 X 800 pixels. At the moment Google Nexus 7 is the only tablet that run on Android 4.1 Jelly Bean operating system. This budget tablet from Google boasts of 10 hours battery life which allows the user to browse the internet.  The device is powered by a 1.3 GHz quad core cortex A9 processor.

The 8 GB Wi-Fi only enabled Nexus 7 comes with a price tag of 11,000 and the 16 GB model would cost 14,000. With the specifications and the price, Nexus 7 can prove to be a strong competition to the new iPad Mini. The only disappointing factor is that it has only a 1.3 mega pixel rear camera but is missing a front facing camera. Nexus 7 doesn’t support cellular networks that mean you won’t be able to make calls with it.  It also supports Bluetooth, NFC and microUSB as connectivity features.
