The Pixel XL: Google's Powerful Variant Endowed with Top-Notch Features

BENGALURU: After the success of the Nexus series, Google is all set to launch its next range of Pixel smartphones–the Pixel and Pixel XL in India. With the new range of phones, the company will effectively shift to the premium segment; ditching the mid-range segment. Arriving on the 25th of October, the Pixel phones are expected to deliver unprecedented performance in all aspects.

Although the Pixel phones are manufactured by HTC, Google will have full control over the software and hardware––a remarkable improvement from the Nexus series that needed optimizing the Android OS to match hardware requirements. The search giant has now included the latest Android 7.1 Nougat OS in its upcoming Pixel variant.

First impressions of Google’s Pixel XL–– the larger screen variant suggest that the phone’s design has a noticeable resemblance with iPhones and the HTC 10. Designed with a flat metal frame and rounded edges, the phone seems to be strong enough to handle rough usage. When it comes to display, the phone sports a massive 5.5-inch QuadHD display that is protected by a Corning Gorilla Glass 4 and delivers a splendid resolution of 2560 x 1440 pixels.

Aiming to deliver optimum performance, Google’s new marvel operates on the latest and powerful Quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 821 chipset. In terms of storage, the Pixel XL includes a 4GB RAM. Furthermore, it will be made available in two versions of internal storage–128GB and the 32GB version.

Enabling users to click some awe-inspiring photos, the phone is equipped with a decent 12.3MP rear and an 8MP front-facing camera featuring f/2.0 and f/2.4 apertures respectively. The high-end rear camera is capable enough to record 4K UHD videos and the front camera can record 1080p videos.

To deliver high power backup, the Pixel XL is equipped with a 3450 mAh battery which can only be recharged by a USB Type-C charger. Considering connectivity, the phone supports 4G LTE and offers NFC, GPS with A-GPS, Bluetooth 4.2 and GLONASS.
