Tata Group to Craft New Smartwatch

BENGALURUTata Group has always stayed on the top when it comes to competition and innovation. After touching–literally–all the verticals of the market, Tata Group now wants to put wearable sot its inventory of innovations. The industry radicalists want to develop wrist devices for two very distinct markets– Yoga enthusiasts and factory workers.

One of the exceptional watches tracks breathing patterns, vigilance, alertness and other vital touchstones and metrics important to the practitioners of the ancient discipline of Yoga. The other watch can be termed as a crisis management device. It will detect falls or other mischance on plant floors. The prototype is currently being tested among crane workers at Tata Steel Ltd.

The twosome of these devices depict how the 148year-old thriving establishment is seeking to position the flux of innovation and technology at the core of a straggling empire of more than a hundred companies, including including Tata Consultancy Services Ltd, Tata steel, Tata Power and Tata Motors Ltd. Its playing big in the scene of emergent technologies like hydrogen fuel cells and drones, and grapheme for phones, even though its starting small, its about to create a huge impact on different industries.

"We are moving back to the fundamentals with our yoga wearable. Consumers can bar many lifestyle diseases at their very onset," said Gopichand Katragadda, group chief technology officer, Tata Sons Ltd., which promotes and finances the Mumbai-based group's several units. "We have the technology to produce different types of wearables and we want to add Made in India products into the market." Katragadda who was formerly the chairman of General Electric Co's John F Welch TechnologyCenter in Bangalore, became Tata Sons' first CTO in 2014 with a authority and drive to transform the group.
