Swipe Launches 'First 3D Tablet' for 5999


Mumbai: California-based Swipe Telecom launched a range of tablets in India, including the country's "first 3D tablet". The tablets are priced in the range of 5,999 to 6,999, while the one with phone facility is priced at 8,999.

The company calls the 3D tablets as 3D Life and these tablets are targeted towards kids and youth. The tablet runs on Android 4.0 (ICS) and gives stunning 3D gamming and video viewing experience.  The tablet comes powered by 1.5GHZ A13 Cortex processor, 4GB internal memory and 512 MB DD RAM. It has a 7-inch TFT Five Point Touch Capacitive screen packing 800x480 pixels, 2MP front camera and has a 3400 mAH battery. This tablet has a price tag of 5,999.

The company has launched one more innovative tablet named ‘tabX78 Float’ for business professionals for 6,999. The new tablet is said to be India’s slimmest and lightest tablet measuring just 8.5mm thick and weighing just 295 grams. The tablet also comes with Hindi language support.

One more one-of-its-kind tablets launched by the company are ‘tabX74S– HALO series’ which comes with SIM functionality for calling and browsing internet. The device runs on Android 4.0 and has a superfast 1 GB DDR III RAM, 4 GB inbuilt memory, front and back camera, Bluetooth connectivity and costs 8,999.

The company claims that these are the fastest and lightest devices in the category. Swipe Telecom Founder and Chief executive Shripal Gandhi said the dometic tablet PC market was 0.95 million units or Rs 2,200 crore in value last year, but is expected to touch 2.2 million units this year.

The US, the largest tablet market with 20.9 million units sold in 2011, is projected to sell more than twice as much, at 42.5 million, this year. Europe is expected to witness sale of 28.7 million tablets this year.

Co-founder and Chief Financial Officer Aman Gupta said the company is backed by Mantra Ventures with commitment of $ 10 million, and is also in discussion with other PEs for an additional $ 20 million.Mantra Ventures has a portfolio consisting of companies in the real estate, KPO, BPO and healthcare.
