Specs Comparison: Apple iPad Pro Vs Surface Pro 4

BENGALURU: Apple unveiling the 12.9-inch iPad Pro created a good debate and a huge competition to other brands. Its major competitor is Surface Pro 4 from Microsoft, which is planned to be launched in the upcoming month with lots of changes to it, reports International Business Times.

The previous laptop-tablet hybrid Surface Pro 3 gave good revenue for Microsoft. Apple’s new iPad Pro that can act as both a tablet and laptop can stand as a best opponent to the upcoming Surface Pro 4. So, here is the comparison of the two gadgets specs and features.

Design and Display

 Apple iPad Pro sports a 12.9-inch display with a resolution of 2048 x 2732 pixels and a pixel density of 265 ppi. It measures 305.7 x 220.9 mm and its thickness is of 6.9 mm.

The rumors suggests that the dimensions of the unreleased Surface Pro 4 will be almost same as that of the Surface Pro 3 and also might come with two displays that are 12 and 14 inches with a resolution of 2160 x 1400.

Chipset and Storage

The 4GB RAM iPad Pro is powered by A9X chipset and is available in 32GB and 128GB storage editions.

Whereas the Surface Pro 4 is expected to be available in Core i3, Core i5 and Core i5 variants with 128 GB storage as its base model. It would be available in different RAM variants from 4GB to 16GB and also with 256GB to 512GB storage versions.

Pricing and Availability

Apple 12.9 inch iPad Pro will be available for purchase from November. The Wi-Fi models of iPad Pro 32GB, 128GB versions are priced at USD 799, USD 949 respectively. The 128 GB storage is Wi-Fi cum cellular model and is priced at USD 1,079. Accessories like Smart Keyboard and Apple Pencil are available at the price of USD 169 and USD 99 respectively.

Surface Pro 4, 12-inch tab is expected to be priced at USD 800. The base model of the 14-inch is likely to cost around USD 100-150 or more. The Surface Pro 4 accessories like Type Cover keyboard and docking station cost USD 129.9 and USD 199.9 respectively. The Surface Pro 4 is rumored to be announced on October 19.
