Samsung to launch Galaxy media player in Jan 2011


Seoul: Samsung is coming up with its own media player that has the Galaxy S for inspiration of its design. The Galaxy media player is called by many as the iPod killer. It is expected to be unveiled at the Consumer Electronics Show in January 2011 at Las Vegas. The Galaxy player will come with a 4-inch LCD screen, running on a customizable Android 2.2 (Froyo) operating system. The OS allows for over the air updates for apps and music. It is reported that the Galaxy player is powered by a 1GHz processor, and comes with a memory card slot for expandable memory. The media player will have three versions - 8GB, 16GB and 32GB. It will support almost all the formats. Connectivity options include Wi-Fi and Bluetooth. The Galaxy player is powered by a 1200mAh removable battery. There is also a 3.2 MP camera and a front facing camera. The product will start selling in South Korea next month. Samsung aims to make the product available in other countries between April to June 2011. No word has been said about the price of the product yet.
