Samsung to Launch Galaxy S3 in India Soon

London: The much-awaited Samsung Galaxy S3 smartphone is expected to hit the Indian markets soon.

The Galaxy S3 model would be available in the European market towards the end of the current month and subsequently in the other parts of the globe from June onwards, Samsung Electronics President and Head of IT & Mobile Communications Division J K Shin said.

The price of the device, touted as the latest rival to the iPhone, has not yet been disclosed.

Samsung Galaxy S3 runs on the latest Android operating System 4.0 and comes with a 4.8-inch screen, bigger than its highly successful predecessor Galaxy S2.

The phone packs a bunch of interesting features like 'Smart stay', in which the device recognises when you are looking at the phone and maintains a bright display for continued viewing pleasure.

"Designed to be both effortlessly smart and intuitively simple, the Galaxy S3 has been created with our human needs and capabilities in mind. What makes me most proud is that it enables one of the most seamless, natural and human-centric mobile experiences, opening up a new horizon that allows you to live a life extraordinary," Shin added.

He, however, did provide any figures on the company's sales target of the phone.

The Galaxy S3 also introduces 'Pop up play' feature which allows user to watch an HD video on the phone while sending an email or text simultaneously.

The phone's 8MP camera features a zero-lag shutter speed that lets user capture moving objects without delay. The 'Burst shot' function allows users to capture twenty continuous shots. HD video can be recorded even with the 1.9MP front facing camera.

The phone also comes with Near Field Communication (NFC) technology.

Additionally, Samsung Galaxy S3 features 'Game Hub' and 'Video Hub', which provide users access to various social games and high quality TV and movies, respectively. These will initially be introduced in select countries and subsequently on the global market.
