Samsung and Acer launch chromebooks


Bangalore: In the Google's I/O conference, Google announced that Chrome OS notebooks, called Chromebooks will be available in the market by July 15. Samsung had also displayed the details of new Chromebook laptops. Now Samsung has unveiled two new versions of their Chromebook Series 5 with Google's chrome OS. The products come with an Atom dual-core processor from Intel N570. The laptops have 12.1-inch display with a brightness of up to 300 candelas and a HD webcam. The battery of the laptops provide about 8.5 hours of life. Samsung said that the boot up time is less than 10 seconds. It weighs 1.45 kg and it is about 2 cm thick. Samsung's Chromebook comes with silver and white design. The product one with Wi-Fi will cost about 25470, (400 euros), while the version with a UMTS module will cost about 50 Euros more. The Chrome OS also comes pre-installed with the notebook and it keeps it online permanently, but it has an offline mode too. The Chromebook will go on sale on 15 June. At the same time Acer is also launching Chromebook, which is more of a traditional netbook chassis, with an 11.6-inch widescreen HD display with a 1366 x 768 resolution. It also has the Atom N570 1.66 Ghz dual-core processors. The Wi-Fi version of the Acer is set to be 15705. Acer Chromebook comes in a black design.
