Samsung Unveils its 'Shatter-Resistant' Galaxy S7 Active Smartphone


BENGALURU: In an era of sophisticated gadgets, the latest gadget that has been grabbing user’s attention is the Samsung Galaxy S7 Active. The Galaxy S7 Active, which succeeds the Galaxy S6 Active is a rugged smartphone that is shatter-resistant for drops from five feet or less which also has water and dust resistance ratings.

The recent product is the fourth Active model made by the collaboration of Samsung and AT&T. The previous versions include Samsung Galaxy S4 Active, Samsung Galaxy S5 Active and Samsung Galaxy S6 Active. The latest gadget runs on the Android 6.0 Marshmallow operating system powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 processor. Having a 5.1-inch Quad HD display the smartphone has 4GB RAM and 32GB of internal storage which can be expanded up to 200 GB with the help of a microSD card. On the camera front, the product is laced with a 12-megapixel rear camera and a 5-megapixel front camera both with f/1.7 aperture. The handset is backed by a 4000mAh battery which the company claims can deliver up to 32 hours of talk time while the fast charging feature helps the phone get fully charged in less than two hours.

Among other features, the phone packs with it a fingerprint sensor and Knox mobile platform security which has been implemented at the chip level. Apart from these, the gadget includes wireless charging facility,  an ‘Always On’ display, a ‘double press’ feature apart from the ‘long press’ and ‘short press’ that was available on the preceding models to activate different functions.

The product will be available in Green Camo, Titanium Grey and Sand Gold color options, from June 10 2016 via AT&T online store as well as the AT&T retail stores.
