Samsung Officially Unveiled Galaxy Note II 'Phablet'

Bangalore: With just one more day to go to the IFA 2012 in Berlin, Germany, Samsung officially made the announcement of the Galaxy Note II, the successor of the Galaxy Note. As its older brother the new Note II comes with a huge screen and gives the utility of both a smartphone and a tablet which makes us call it a ‘Phablet’.

At the Mobile Unpacked Berlin chapter, the company revealed that the device would come with Android 4.1 Jelly Bean operating system. The Samsung Galaxy Note II has a 5.5 inch Super AMOLED HD display touch screen. The Note is powered by a 1.6 GHz quad core CPU and is backed by 2 GB RAM. The device also comes with an 8 mega pixel rear camera and a 1.9 mega pixel front facing camera as well. To support all the functions and features that come along with the device it is powered by a powerful 3,100 mAh battery.

Apart from the normal specifications, the highlight and the talking point of the new Note is the “Air View feature”. This feature allows the user to let the S Pen to linger over an email, image, video or the S Planner to see the content of the same without actually having to open it.

The much loved S Pen has gone under a makeover. It is longer, thicker and perfectly designed to get the perfect grip. The change in the design allows the user to experience more precise and comfortable writing experience.

The tablet comes with a feature called “Idea Visualizer”. This feature allows the user to add illustration by feeding in keywords on the S Note. This then provides images which match the handwritten words. The user can even customize the illustrations and add them to the library

Another happy news for the users is that even though the new Note is loaded with new features it is still thinner than the previous edition. The device will be available in three memory options; 16 GB, 32 GB and 64 GB.

"Last year at IFA, we launched the Galaxy Note, which opened a new category of smart mobile devices. This year, again at IFA, I am proud to announce the GALAXY Note II, which will encourage users to 'unleash their inner creativity.' With a perfect viewing experience and unique and differentiated features, users can discover information and capture their ideas faster, express thoughts freely and manage tasks more efficiently. For anyone who wants to be creative, expressive and unique, the Samsung GALAXY Note II will be the ideal device, allowing users to live a life extraordinary," said JK Shin, President of IT & Mobile Communications Division at Samsung Electronics.

The Note II will be available across the US, European and Asian markets in October. But as of now the company has not revealed anything regarding the pricing of the device. The device will be available in Marble White or Titanium Gray color options.
