Samsung Launches Dual-SIM Galaxy S Duos, Galaxy Y Duos Lite


Bangalore: The Korean electronics giants announced the launch of two new dual-SIM Android Smartphones – the Galaxy S Duos and the Galaxy Y Duos Lite. With the new introductions they have further extended their already large smartphone family.

“At Samsung, we are seeking to fuel the growth of the dual-SIM market in India by launching our innovative, dual-SIM Smartphones. With the launch of the Samsung Galaxy S Duos and Galaxy Y Duos Lite, we are seeking to democratise the smartphone market in India. We are looking at smartphones contributing more than 25 percent to our total mobile volumes this year.” stated Asim Warsi, VP, Samsung Mobile.

The Galaxy S Duos comes with dual SIM and it is priced at 17,990.  The smartphone has a 4 inch TFT capacitive touch screen with a resolution of 480 x 800 pixels. The device is powered by a 1 GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon MSM 7227A processor with 768 MB of RAM. The phone will function on Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich operating system. The smartphone comes with 4 GB internal memory along with a slot for a microSD card which gives the users the option of expanding the memory up to 32 GB.

Galaxy S Duos comes with a 5 mega pixel camera which is equipped with auto focus and LED flash as well. The flash proves to be handy for taking pictures in poor lighting conditions. It also has a VGA front facing camera that allows the user to make video calls. To power all this, the smartphone is equipped with a 1500 mAh battery which would last 1 – 2 days of usage.

The phone is just 10.5 mm thick which makes it easy to hold and carry around. Looks wise the S Duos looks a lot like the Samsung S III which attracts a lot of attention to itself.
