RIM launches BlackBerry Curve 9360 for Rs 19,990


NEW DELHI: Canadian firm Research In Motion (RIM) on Tuesday launched its new BlackBerry Curve smartphone in the country, priced at Rs 19,990. BlackBerry Curve 9360 sports the new Blackberry 7 operating system, GPS and Wi-Fi support, memory support up to 32 GB and 5MP camera with flash and video recording. The device also comes with built-in support for NFC (Near Field Communications), a new technology that enables many capabilities, including the ability to pair with other NFC-enabled accessories. "The BlackBerry Curve series has been extremely popular in India and we are excited to launch the all new BlackBerry Curve 9360. It provides an ideal upgrade path for our existing Curve customers as well as the millions of feature phone users in the Indian market," RIM Director Marketing India Krishnadeep Baruah told reporters here. The handset comes with another feature called BlackBerry Protect which allows users to back up their personal data and help locate misplaced handsets using GPS. The company has also partnered with telecom operator Bharti Airtel for selling the device. Under the partnership, Airtel would offer two months of free trial usage period for new users. They would get Rs 299 BlackBerry plan of Airtel for free for two months and can make local calls for 20 paise per second and free SMS service to any one BlackBerry number of choice for one year from the date of purchase.
