Nokia Vibrating Tattoo Seeking Patent

Bangalore: Cell phone maker Nokia has applied patent for its innovative ‘magnetic tattoo’ that will sense and alert the mobile user whenever the user gets calls, text and even if the mobile is running out of battery.

The tattoo is made using the metal ore and is inserted under the skin by a minor surgical procedure. The tattoo will vibrate and the feels like tingling sensation and users have to scratch their arm or wherever the tattoo is inserted to dismiss the alert.

"The tattoo would be applied using ferromagnetic inks. The ink material would first be exposed to high temperatures to demagnetize it. Then the tattoo would be applied. You'll apparently be able to choose the actual image you want as the tattoo. The procedure is identical to that of getting a 'normal' tattoo, only the ink is special,” reports Unwired View's.

The tattoo is capable of detecting a magnetic field and transfers a perceivable stimulus to the skin. In other words the tattoo catches the incoming mobile signals and vibrates the skin. Users can also customize the sensations caused by tattoo like not to vibrate while sleeping, vibrate or not to vibrate on particular call or text message.
