Nokia Unveils First Phone In The World With A Dedicated WhatsApp Button


Bangalore: Nokia became the first manufacturer to introduce a dedicated WhatsApp button in a phone with its Asha 210, which is expected to reach the stores by the end of second quarter. This feature would enable users to a free alternative to SMS texts.

Nokia was comparatively slower in entering the Smartphone market, is now pleased to experiment with their new launch. Some of earlier released handsets had facebook devoted button, this one would be its first for WhatsApp.

Nokia Asha 210 comes in various colors which include yellow, magenta, cyan, black and white. It runs on the firm's proprietary Series 40 operating system. This phone is targeted at consumers who want to spend less on their handsets and has a taste for social networking.

According to Timo Toikkanen, executive vice president of mobile phones at Nokia, "The Nokia Asha 210 really stands out giving super-social consumers new ways to express their personalities through design, color and innovations like the world's first WhatsApp button, It has been designed to allow people to easily update their social networks, stay in touch with friends and share user created content."

The phone sports 2 mega-pixel camera, and supports WiFi and Bluetooth and has 32 MB RAM with an expandable memory up to 32 GB. The handset is equipped with QWERTY keyboard and has a screen size of 2.4in and weighs 99.5 grams. The phone is set to come in both dual and single SIM options.

Asha 210 is expected to be priced around $72.
