Nokia Preps A Thinner Lighter Lumia 920

Bangalore: Nokia is all set to recapture its position in the market with a successor to its Lumia 920, working under the codename ‘Catwalk’. The model will be a replacement for company’s existing Windows Phone 8 flagship.

With its exquisite piece of technology, the Nokia Lumia 920’s successor is truly stunning. The company plans to switch the body from the polycarbonate plastic to an aluminium sheath which facilitates Nokia to compete with other thin and slim models in the Android range and also iPhone 5.

The upcoming model will have specifications similar to that of present Lumia 920, claims reports.  According to The Verge, ‘Catwalk’ will be slimmer and lighter which allows the company to use lighter materials with considerable strength and durability. However, the model will resemble its predecessor in terms of processor, memory and storage capacity. As of now, there are hardly any updates about the camera.

The current Lumia 920 weighs about 185 grams which is quite heavy compared to Apple’s iPhone 5 and Samsung Galaxy S III. The competition existing in the ‘handy’ Smartphone market has urged the tech giant to use aluminium in order to reduce the weight of the device.

It is also reported that Nokia is planning to unveil two other Lumia Smartphones in 2013. The company is yet to state the pricing or availability of the ‘Catwalk’ handset.
