Nokia Asha 501 Is Up For Pre-orders At 5,199


Bangalore: Nokia Asha 501, the first phone to run the company’s newest OS, Nokia Asha software platform 1.0. is up for pre-orders on the company’s India online store for 5,199. Though the company did not confirm about the device’s availability, it did state that the device will be available in Black, White, Cyan, Yellow and Red colour options.

Asha 501 was unveiled in May as the first device to run on the new new platform which is designed for making user experience faster and more responsive. It comes with 3 inch capacitive touch screen with 240x320 pixels resolution and has a single black button that can be used to launch home page or to return to previous page. The device also comes with Nokia's easy swap feature. Connectivity options include Wi-Fi and Bluetooth, but no 3G or GPS.

The phone comes with 64MB internal memory that can be expanded to another 32GB via microSD. Nokia is bundling a 4GB card free with the phone. The battery as the company claims, will offer talk time of 17 hours and a standby time of 26 days.

The device which is now listed for pre-orders is a dual SIM variant and the company said it will also launch a single SIM variant soon.   

Asha 501 comes with preloaded popular apps like CNN, eBuddy, Facebook, LinkedIn, Nimbuzz, WeChat, and many others. And Nokia claims that it will be adding some more popular apps to this platform in the near future. And the company also said that it has collaborated with Airtel to offer data-free access to the standalone Facebook app, as well as the mobile site m.facebook.com.
