Nexus 5 To Return This Year As Flagship; Google Hints With Project Fi Video

Nexus 5

BANGALORE: Google introduced Nexus 5 couple of years ago and it became popular as it came with best in class quad-core processor and a full HD display at a mid-range price. Now, rumor has it that Google will launch the next version of flagship device, this year and it will carry similar design as the Nexus 5, reports IBNLive.

The Google’s flagship for last year – Nexus 6 has been in the market for long but it didn’t receive as many appreciations as its predecessor did. Bigger display, almost close to a tablet, and expensive price were the possible reasons why Nexus 6 didn’t find much preference from buyers.

Now, the speculation suggests, the next version could be called the Nexus 5 2015 and it will be produced by Huawei, reported on Android Origin. In this year’s Mobile World Congress that took place in Barcelona, a speculation formed that there will be two variants of Nexus Smartphones – one will be developed by LG and the other by Huawei.

Google’s partnership with Huawei may get affected by the Google’s Project Fi video that was released last week, where a Nexus 5’s front was seen. Project Fi is the Google’s own mobile phone network that can switch between Wi-Fi and cellular networks to use the data efficiently and it will help the consumers to reduce their phone bill.

This feature will be compatible with Nexus 6 handsets. The unknown upcoming device which featured in the video will also holds possibilities of supporting Google’s Project Fi. There is no official announcement from the company on the speculation of LG producing next Nexus tablet and Smartphones. However, there is a good chance of Huawei producing inexpensive versions of the new Nexus devices.
