Nextbit Unveils Robin Smartphone For 19,999 In India

NEW DELHI: San Francisco-based smartphone maker Nextbit on Wednesday launched its flagship "cloud first" Android device Robin for 19,999 in India.

With soft-touch polycarbonate body, the smartphone will be available on e-tail website flipkart from May 30.

"Robin's premium design and performance are a natural fit for a demanding market like India. Our commitment to fast OS updates and smart storage is perfect for people who constantly want more from their phone," Tom Moss, CEO and co-founder of Nextbit, told reporters here.

The company has offered a smart storage feature in the smartphone that gives a 100GB cloud storage in addition to the 32GB inboard memory.

Robin runs on Android 6.0.1 (marshmallow) OS and delivers an optimum sound quality from its dual front-facing speakers with audio enhancements by Arkamys.

"With the unique combination of premium design, smart storage and near stock Android experience we can connect with aspirational values of Indian users while addressing the storage limitations," added Shankar Parasaram, head of India operations for Nextbit systems.

The device is powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 808 processor with 3GB RAM. It has a 13MP primary camera with phase detection autofocus accompanied by a dual-tone LED flash and a 5MP front shooter.

Robin's 7mm body is designed around a 5.2-inch IPS LCD display protected by Gorilla Glass 4. The device has a 2,680 mAh battery.

Additional features include dual amplifiers and a fingerprint identification which is integrated with the power button on the side.

The smart storage feature also frees up space by backing up apps and photos to the cloud and archiving the least used of these when space runs low. It leaves thumbnails of all archived content on the phone, making it easy to tap and restore the app.
