Bangalore:Indian IT services firm MindTree is looking to launch its 3G smartphone based on Google's Android platform in the U.S. in the second half of this fiscal year. The company is in talks with at least one major U.S carrier for the launch. The hottest prospects for the phone are in the U.S., followed by Latin America, Europe and Canada. Company is not currently looking to launch the phone in India. The smartphone market is currently dominated by industry players like Apple's latest iPhone, the BlackBerry from Research In Motion and Samsung Electronics's Captivate. In April, the company had announced plans to get into the super-competitive smartphone market. "The official industry revenue this year as put out by Nasscom (industry body) is up 13-15 per cent and we believe we will exceed that. We expect the phone would realize for us somewhere in the region of $300 per phone," said Rostow Ravanan, Chief Financial Officer at MindTree. The IT, knowledge and R&D services firm, also expects follow-on business to stem from its present contract with 'Aadhaar,' earlier known as the Unique Identification Project (UID).
