Micromax adds Supreme and Supreme 2 Smartphones to its Bolt Portfolio


BENGALURU: Micromax, an Indian mobile manufacturer well known for introducing quality budgeted phones. Lately, the company has not just capitalized on the existing mobile market, but has also gradually shifted its focus on manufacturing and marketing other devices as well. The extended portfolio of products includes tablets, laptops, health and fitness gadgets, and other two-in-one devices. Under the sub-brand Yu, Micromax launched products catering to health and fitness arena, available only through e-commerce portals in the country. However, the latest announcement from the company centers on the newest additions to the Bolt series of phones, Bolt Supreme and Bolt Supreme 2, which was scheduled for release in the early part of this month.

The Bolt Supreme 2 runs on Android 5.1.1 Lollipop OS and features a screen size of 3.9 inch. This budget phone packs pretty robust attributes considering its price, integrating a 1.2GHz quad-core processor, 512MB RAM, coupled with a 1400 mAh non-removable battery. The phone showcases a storage capacity of 4 GB, which can be further expanded up to 32 GB. Both the phones pretty much talk about the same hardware and specifications, save the fact that while Supreme 2 is a phone with a screen size of 3.9 inch, Supreme features a 3.5 inch screen.  The battery of Supreme differs from that of Supreme 2, featuring a 1200 mAh capacity. The Supreme model comes in color variants of champagne-white, black and grey while the Supreme2 is available in grey variant only.

Both the latest additions sport a 2 MP camera, combined with LED flash on the rear and a 0.3 MP (VGA) camera on the front. Moreover, the phones feature dual-SIM slots, FM, GPS, Bluetooth 4.0, Wi-Fi (802.11 b/g/n), and other standard connectivity features. Additionally, the sensors integrated on the phone consist of Proximity sensor, Ambient light sensor, and Accelerometer.

The Supreme and Supreme 2 phones are available at a very reasonable price of 2,749 and 2,999, respectively. This launch in turn implies that Micromax will be competing with not just other domestic brands like Intex, Xolo, and Lava; but also with Micromax's own Canvas Spark series budget phones. This latest release is preceded by Micromax’s launch of Evok in the Indian market, which is a smartphone combining a 64-bit class Qualcomm processor for less than 8,500.
