MenQ's world's Cheapest Laptop priced at $80
Bangalore: China-based electronic equipment manufacturer MenQ has launched the world's cheapest laptop EasyPC E790. Using an ARM-based processor manufactured by Samsung, it sells for $80. The laptop's screen-size is seven inches. It comes with WiFi, Ethernet LAN, supports Skype, plays YouTube, has a couple of USB ports, an SD card slot capable of adding 32GB of flash storage, 128MB of RAM, 2GB SSD storage, and a 2,000mAh battery. The EasyPC runs Windows CE but, apparently, it can run Android. So it could be considered a laptop, a smartbook, a netbook or an ultra-mini PC. Meanwhile the initial launch of Google's Chrome OS for netbooks is said to be a week or two away. The Chrome OS is expected to make netbooks quick to boot and access the internet. A number of companies including Qualcomm, TI, Toshiba, Asus, Acer Lenovo, Adobe, HP and Freescale are said to have helped in developing this laptop.
