"Mango" to Hit the Market in October

Bangalore: The wait is soon to get over as Samsung Electronics is ready to release its first Microsoft Mango phone. The smartphone is based on latest version of Microsoft's mobile operating system in Italy. The company will unveil the device towards the end of October. Being the top seller of Google's Android phones in the world, the company aims to construct the equal standing with Microsoft's mobile operating software and its own proprietary "BADA" software. Omnia W, code named as Mango, sports a 3.7 inch AMOLED display and 1.4 GHz processor. Moreover, the device will have a global launch in Europe, Latin America, CIS, Africa, South East and South West Asia. But the dates for U.S. launch are yet to be announced. An update of Windows phone software was released in May, hoping that the new features will make a way into the market already dominated by Google and Apple. The sales of Samsung's Android smartphone Galaxy S 2 had topped 10 million units in five months, making it the company's fastest-selling phone, said Samsung. The two LTE versions of its Galaxy S 2 smartphones are also unveiled in South Korea, in quest to keep its momentum active and confront against Apple's iPhone. On the whole, if all goes well, this Samsung-Microsoft tie up can present a tough competition to Google and Apple. The sales are one of few bright spots in the businesses of Samsung, which also leads global sales of memory chips, flat-panel screens and TVs. Analysts said, smartphone sales are likely to lead to higher-than-expected earnings for Samsung during the July to September period.
