Lava introduces world's first Alpha keyboard phones, B5 and B2

Bangalore: Lava Mobiles, an Indian mobile phone maker, has launched a new range of handsets, Lava B5 and Lava B2. They come with a price tag of 4,399 and 3,999 respectively. However, the cost is not the catch here. The new Lava phones are the world's first Alpha keypad phones. Unlike the multi-tap and QWERTY keypads, in the Alpha keypad, the keys are arranged in the alphabetical sequence (ABCDE...). SN Rai, Co-founder and Director, Lava International said, "It took months of rigorous research and consumer trials to conceptualize Alpha Key-pad. We feel Alpha key-pad would further redefine the mobile phone market in a big way." Lava expects to capture ten percent of the market segment by pitting the Alpha keypad phones against the QWERTY phones. The phones otherwise have regular features. The Lava B5 comes with a 2.2 inch display, dual SIM enabled, FM radio and memory card support. Connectivity options include Bluetooth and a 3.5 mm headset jack. The Lava B2 is also similarly spec-ed. However, it remains to be seen if the phones will work their magic or not. With people acquainted with the QWERTY keypad format, it may be little difficult to change the habit that is already formed.
