LG introduces two touchscreen phones from its Cookie range


Bangalore: Continuing its popular series of the Cookie phones, LG now brings to India two new touchscreen phones, the LG Cookie Fresh (GS290) and the LG Cookie Plus (GS500v). With the youth being its target audience, LG has priced the phones quite reasonably. The Cookie Fresh is priced at 6199 while you can have the Cookie Plus by shelling out 7999. Sudhin Mathur, Business Group Head, Mobile Communications, LGEIL, said on the launch of the phones, "In today's fast paced digital life, staying connected and informed through the virtual world has become a very important aspect of the millennial youth. With the launch of Cookie Fresh and Plus, we have eased through the barriers of accessibility, experience and affordability for the young generation. We understand the class and strive to meet the demands of today's youth through phones which are high on features and are reasonably priced. We are positive that these handsets will be a big hit with the youth of the country and take forward the LG Brand to the next level." The Cookie Fresh comes with a 3 inch TFT resistive full touchscreen display, a 2MP camera and supports 2G network. It also comes with social networking features which include easy SNS usability allowing direct access to Facebook and Twitter; besides supporting other top social networking sites. It provides the option of Editable Screenshot MMS, wherein you can draw and write on photos and send them via MMS. For auto rotation, it comes with an accelerometer and an ability to recognize handwritten data. Connectivity options include GPRS class 12 connection with up to 48 kbps, EDGE Class 12 with up to 236.8 kbps connection, Bluetooth v2.1 + A2DP wireless connection, and WAP 2.0, xHTML browser and USB v2.0/v1.2 port support.Its 900 mAh Li-ion battery allows up to five hours of talk time and up to 390 hours of standby time. The Cookie Plus comes with a 3MP camera and 3G connectivity. Having an internal memory of 30MB, its memory can also be expanded using a microSD card till 8GB. It is equipped with Bluetooth and USB connector options. Its battery gives up to 10 hours of talk time and stand by up to 393 hours. With the advent of 3G services in the country, this phone surely holds good value. LG is eyeing a 10 percent market share by the end of the year. So far, the company has launched 20 new products in this year. The regular introductions of new phones that offer various features while being cost effective will help them achieve their desired market share.
