Karbonn Release Two New Budget Smartphones

Bangalore: The Indian mobile manufacturer Karbonn Mobiles has released two new budget Smartphones. Both models run on Andriod platform and falls under the sub 5000 category. The devices, Karbonn Smart A1 and Karbonn Smart A5 are placed under the Karbonn Star Series.

Among the two, Karbonn Smart A1 comes with a larger screen display of 3.5 inch with 320X480 pixel resolution. It is a dual SIM device and runs on Ice Cream Sandwich Version  of Android, which is pretty outdated but good for its cost. Embedded beneath the metallic exterior is a 1 GHz processor with an internal memory of 512 MB out of which only 163 MB is user available. However, the Micro SD card slot lets you to expand the memory upto 32GB. The first time Android users are the main target of the manufacturer. Karbonn A1 is loaded with a 3 MP rear camera and a basic front camera for video-calling and features a 1450 mAh battery. All the connectivity options are included in the model. The makers provide a decent specification for the value of money.

Compared to the former, Karbonn Smart A5 is smaller in size and higher in price. The model comes with a 3.2 inches HVGA display, which is less than the size of Karbonn Smart A1 but the resolution remains constant at 320X480 pixels.  It also has the dual SIM option and runs on Ginger Bread version of Andriod which was released even before Ice Cream Sandwich. This model also comes with 1 GHz processor and an internal memory of 512 MB out of which only 104 MB is user available. Even the battery pack is disappointing at only 1200 mAh. The hardware of both the models has no significant difference.

A quick comparison between the two leads to the conclusion that Karbonn Smart A1 is smarter than Karbonn Smart A5.The only feature were Karbonn Smart A5 seems to be better is the 3.2 MP camera against the 3 MP in Karbonn Smart A1. The later is quoted an amount of Rs. 3890 whereas the former comes with a price tag of 4140.
