Huawei Unleashes the Power of its Mid-Range Honor 5C Smartphone in India


BENGALURU: With the recent launch of Honor 5C in an official event held in New Delhi, Huawei has maintained its popular trend of offering high end smartphones at affordable prices. Earlier, it was introduced in the European market with prices starting at £149 (Rs 14,900) in the UK and €199 (Rs 15,200) in other parts of Europe.

Focusing on display and design, the company incorporated an impressive 5.2-inch full HD IPS LCD panel and a unibody metal design for the phone. The gadget operates on Huawei’s in-house chip, an octa-core Kirin 650 SoC (System on Chip) with eight Cortex-A53 cores which includes four cores clocked at 2GHz and the rest at 1.7GHz. When it comes to storage, the phone sports a 2GB RAM and 16GB internal memory. It supports dual SIM and includes a hybrid SIM card slot which also enables users to expand the memory via a microSD card supporting up to 256GB. The handset has been successfully selling in China. Fostering the ability to capture decent pictures, the smartphone comes with a 13MP primary camera with an f/2.0 aperture and an 8MP secondary camera with the similar aperture size. It also delivers a decent power backup with a 3,000mAH battery.

The wide range of connectivity and navigation options include Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, 4G LTE, GPS, A-GPS and a microUSB port. It operates on Android 6.0 (Marshmallow) featuring the Huawei’s Emotion UI skin on the top. The original Honor 5C rolled out in China includes an innovative rear fingerprint scanner, and the same legacy is followed in its Indian Version the European version though does not sport this feature.
